Benjamin E. Mays Afrocentric Magnet Hosts Official Ribbon Cutting
On September 30, the community came together to celebrate the grand reopening of Benjamin E. Mays Afrocentric Magnet in the historic Rondo neighborhood. The ribbon cutting event included remarks from Superintendent Stacie Stanley, Senior Executive Officer Jackie Turner, Principal Danielle Hughes, Assistant Principal Peirre Ali, and Rondo elder and historian Marvin Anderson.
The event was attended by school and district staff, students, families, current and past Board of Education members, and many members of the Rondo and larger African-American community, who have supported the creation of the school and will continue to support its bright future.
Special thanks to Brass Solidarity for providing the awesome music!
